Bad news for Xbox Game Pass subscribers—several games are leaving the service at the end of February 2025, including two beloved Yakuza titles. If you’ve been planning to play through the early Yakuza games in chronological order, you’ll soon need to buy them, as they’ll no longer be available through Game Pass.
The Usual Rotation Strikes Again
Microsoft regularly updates its Game Pass library, removing titles roughly every two weeks. On January 31, the service already lost six games, and today, February 15, seven more are set to follow. Just before this next wave of removals, Microsoft updated the “Leaving Soon” section of the Xbox Cloud Gaming app, revealing another set of games that will be gone by February 28.
What’s Leaving on February 28?
This new batch of departing games includes a mix of genres and fan favorites. Here’s the full list:
- GRIS
- Maneater
- PAW Patrol World
- Space Engineers
- Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
- Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
- Yakuza 3 Remastered
- Yakuza 4 Remastered
Some of these games only spent about a year on Game Pass, arriving between February and March of 2024. However, the Yakuza remasters have been available since early 2021, giving fans plenty of time to experience them before their departure. GRIS and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty were also on the service for a good stretch, having been added in March and September of 2023, respectively.
Yakuza Fans Take a Hit
After these removals, Xbox Game Pass will still have six Yakuza games in its catalog as of March 2025. However, since Yakuza 3 and Yakuza 4 are leaving, players will no longer be able to experience the series’ first 15 years in order without purchasing the missing entries. Here’s what’s staying:
- Yakuza 0
- Yakuza Kiwami
- Yakuza Kiwami 2
- Yakuza 5 Remastered
- Yakuza 6: The Song of Life
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Yakuza 7)
Interestingly, Yakuza 5 Remastered, which was originally added to Game Pass alongside Yakuza 3 and 4 Remastered, is sticking around for now. There’s no official word on why Microsoft chose to keep Y5R while pulling the others, but it’s possible it has a different licensing agreement.
More Games Could Be on the Chopping Block
Microsoft is expected to announce its next wave of Game Pass removals on February 18, the same day Avowed joins the service. Given their track record, there’s a chance that the current “Leaving Soon” section isn’t complete, meaning even more games might disappear by the end of the month.
If any of these games are on your backlog, now’s the time to play them—or consider buying them before they’re gone from Game Pass for good.
