Nintendo is starting the year strong with its first big event for Tetris 99 in 2025. This time, the Maximus Cup celebrates the release of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, the company’s first major title of the year.

If you’re into classic puzzle games and the legendary Donkey Kong series, this one’s for you. The next Maximus Cup begins on February 13, 2025, and runs through February 17. Players can unlock a special Donkey Kong Country Returns HD theme with custom Tetrimino pieces, background art, and music from the game. Just play Tetris 99 matches during the event and rack up enough points to claim it.
Nintendo keeps these themed Maximus Cups coming, and fans appreciate the fresh visuals and music they bring to the game. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to jump back into Tetris 99, here it is.
