- Mojang announced "Vibrant Visuals" upgrade for Minecraft, enhancing graphics without changing core gameplay.
- Update includes enhanced visuals like volumetric lighting, making environment, mobs, and items more vibrant.
Mojang announced a fresh graphics upgrade for Minecraft during the March 2025 Minecraft Live broadcast, just in time as we gear up for the Switch 2. Dubbed “Vibrant Visuals,” this update promises a stunning visual boost without altering the core gameplay.
In the new update, players can opt in for enhanced visuals that make every aspect of the game pop. The footage shown—captured on a high-end PC—demonstrated how volumetric lighting can transform the Overworld. Now, you can see sunlight streaming through clouds and trees, with each block casting its own distinct shadow. Windows let in natural light, water surfaces reflect beautifully, and even leaves and grass emit a soft glow thanks to subtle subsurface scattering.

But it’s not just the environment that gets a makeover. Mobs and items also receive a fresh, luminous look. In dark settings, spider eyes look even more eerie, and torches now cast a radiant glow, lighting up your way back home. The deep dark biome, in particular, benefits from this upgrade, as the sculk becomes more emissive and immersive, creating an almost magical atmosphere.
Initially rolling out on the Bedrock Edition, the Vibrant Visuals update will soon be tested by players. Mojang is actively working to ensure the update performs well across a wide range of devices, aiming to bring this visual enhancement—either in full or in part—to as many platforms as possible.
