During an earnings call that PC Gamer reported on, CD Projekt Red CFO Piotr Nielubowicz made it clear that the studio has no plans to release The Witcher 4 by the end of 2026. When asked about the possibility of a 2027 release, Nielubowicz reiterated that no exact date could be announced at this time. Instead, he pointed out that the game will launch after the deadline for the studio’s first incentive program, which ends on December 31, 2026.

The studio’s decision not to announce a date this early comes after a period of silence regarding a potential release year. While some fans had pinned their hopes on a 2026 launch, those expectations were dashed by this latest update. CD Projekt Red is clearly taking lessons from their previous experience with Cyberpunk 2077—namely, that premature announcements can lead to a prolonged marketing campaign and added pressure on development teams.

Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski has already expressed his desire to avoid an overly long promotional period, hinting that the studio is focusing on quality and a smoother development process. Given these factors, early 2027 seems like a plausible target, but as anyone who’s followed game development knows, release dates can be unpredictable.
