Starting in January 2025, Nvidia’s cloud gaming platform GeForce Now will implement a 100-hour monthly playtime limit for new subscribers, while existing subscribers won’t see the change until 2026.
This new policy will impact users on the platform’s Performance and Ultimate membership tiers, with Founders memberships remaining exempt. Nvidia announced the change on Reddit, noting that this limit should accommodate the majority of members comfortably, stating that it would only impact about 6% of current users.
How the Limit Works
Unused playtime can carry over to the following month, up to a maximum of 15 hours. However, rollover time won’t accumulate month-to-month, meaning users can only start each new month with a maximum of 115 hours of available playtime.
To provide extra flexibility, Nvidia will allow members to purchase additional playtime beyond their standard 100 hours. Performance tier members can buy an additional 15 hours for $2.99, while Ultimate members will pay $5.99 for the same. Currently, the Performance membership costs $9.99 per month, and the Ultimate tier costs $19.99 monthly.
Transition for Current Members
For existing members with an active subscription as of December 31, 2024, the new playtime limit will take effect in January 2026, giving them an extra year under the old policy. For new subscribers joining from January 2025 onwards, however, the 100-hour cap will apply immediately.
This shift marks Nvidia’s efforts to balance server demand and ensure a consistent experience for its growing member base.
